concerning youth

Thanks to the generous cooperation of the Lifespan Religious Education conference (the larger group with whom we will be sharing Star Island for the week) the meditation retreat welcomes families with children/youth to register.

Our group cannot yet offer all-ages programming yet.  But the RE conference runs top-notch youth programming that is quite compatible with our schedule.  So, while our adults are meeting to meditate, our young people can be engaged in their own meaningful activities.

We are still working out the details, but it will go something like the following.  In the morning, there is age-specific programming -- pre-school, elementary, jr. high and high school groups.  During the afternoons, parents are responsible for supervising their own families.  Then at night, there are sitters (island staff) on duty.

Non-Unitarian-Universalists attending the meditation retreat will of course have many questions about UU-style youth programming.  But the setting is very conducive to interfaith mixing.  Please feel free to start a dialog with us, so we can convey a full picture to you.

If any youth wish to meditate, they are welcome to join us -- assuming they are old enough to maintain a quiet/still disposition.  (We might even have an occasional all-ages meditation, full of squirming and chatter, just to get us all together....)

Please contact Dave@RootedInSpirit.org if you might want to bring children/youth to the meditation retreat.
